Professor Sadiqua N. Jafarey, President NCMNH
Prof. Sadiqua N. Jafarey, FRCOG, FCPS, President of National Committee for Maternal and Neonatal Health (NCMNH) is a clinician, academician and a researcher with keen interest in Public Health. Was previously a Professor at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center, Karachi, and now Professor at Ziauddin University. Has taught at the basic and postgraduate level for over 40 years and is still teaching. She conducted many studies on Maternal and Perinatal Mortality and Morbidity. Has written, published and traveled, extensively. She is a Member of various National and International Advisory Committees relating to Maternal Health and Research including Health Policy Taskforce, Ministry of Health, and Government of Pakistan. Her professional contributions at the National and the International level include work with Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists UK, International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO), Asia and Oceania Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (AOFOG) and Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Pakistan (SOGP). She has received many honors and awards.
Mrs. Imtiaz Kamal, Secretary General NCMNH
Imtiaz Kamal is a Nurse-midwifery educator, teacher training specialist, public health scientist, researcher, author, family planning champion, founder of Midwifery Association of Pakistan and poet. Has 60 years of professional experience in 45+ countries with national and international organizations.
Dr. Faridon Setna, Advisor NCMNH
Dr. Faridon Setna is an obstetrician-gynecologist. He has worked in Lady Dufferin Hospital Karachi for 40 years. He developed LDH into a post graduate teaching institution for medical students and one of the best institutions for midwifery training. He also served the Family Planning Association of Pakistan’s Sindh Chapter as Chairman, Medical Committee. Through his initiative, the National Committee for Maternal and Neonatal Health was created in 1994. He has received many honors and awards including Tamgha-e-Imtiaz from Government of Pakistan.
Dr. Azra Ahsan, Technical Consultant NCMNH
Dr. Azra Ahsan, a consultant Obstetrician & Gynecologist has been a practicing clinician for the past 35 years or so. A fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, UK, she has a rich and varied experience, having worked in UK, North Africa, the Middle East and Pakistan. She is a Technical Consultant to NCMNH and the Secretary General of Association of Mothers and Newborns (AMAN). She is an honorary member of Midwifery Association of Pakistan (MAP) and has many publications to her credit.
Mrs. Nighat Saeed Khan, National Coordinator / Management Advisor, NCMNH
Ms. Nighat Saeed Khan is a development professional with special interest in Reproductive Health, particularly Family Planning, Safe Motherhood and Gender Issues. She advocates for Women’s Health as a Basic Human Right. She is an RH Program Advisor/ Management Specialist, having received training abroad and in Pakistan.
She has over 30 years experience of working on women’s issues, She holds Masters Degrees both in English and Economics
Currently, Ms. Khan serves as the National Coordinator / Management Advisor, National Committee for Maternal and Neonatal Health (NCMNH).
Dr. Shahida Zaidi is an obstetrician and gynecologist, who now practices diagnostic ultrasound. She was the first to start an ultrasound service in Karachi in 1979, and an ultrasound training institute for doctors in 1984. She is currently the President of Association for Mothers and Newborns(AMAN), a non-governmental organization.
She is the author of two books on diagnostic ultrasound, “Real-time Ultrasound in Obstetrics and “Gynaecology” and “Abdominal Ultrasound”. She has edited 4 books/manuals related to Maternal and Perinatal Health, and Family Planning and MCH Service Delivery, and on Reproductive Health Training in Pakistan.
Prof. Dr. Sadiah Ahsan Pal
She is a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians &Gynaecologists, UK. Is Vice President (Sindh) of the Society of Obstetricians &Gynaecologists of Pakistan, a Consultant Obstetrician &Gynaecologist at OMI Hospital, Medicell Clinic & Concept Fertility Center (IVF) Karachi. She is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Pakistan Medical Association& is a member of its International Representative Committee for Pakistan. She is an Executive Member of Association for Mothers & Newborns and a member of the National Committee for Maternal & Neonatal Health. She is also a member of Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Pakistan. She conducts regular training Workshops on Colposcopy & Cervical Cancer Screening, PPIUCD, MVA, Values Clarification & Attitude Transformation (VCAT) in Reproductive Health, EmONC, and Family Planning. She has authored numerous articles in national & international journals ,and developed Training Manuals.
